St. Jude’s Children’s Camp recycles all kinds of cards and use the proceeds for their wonderful program serving abused and abandoned children. These include holiday cards as well as any birthday, anniversary or other occasion cards. Their address is below:

On Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, Computer Services will be migrating the wireless network management application and wireless switch code from one manufacturer to another.

This may involve a 10-minute wireless network outage for both on- and off-campus locations at some point between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The change is necessary as our maintenance is now with a different manufacturer; in order to receive full support from them, we must be using their version.

Thanks,

Computer Services

If you’re including strings of lights, try LEDs instead of the traditional incandescents. LEDs use 80 percent less energy than incandescent, and while they cost more upfront they’ll last 25 to 30 years. They don’t heat up and are unbreakable. LEDs come in lots of colors and twinkle just as merrily as the energy-gobblers. Lower your carbon footprint this holiday season.

Send green comments, suggestions or questions to gogreen@hvcc.edu.

The Holidays are here and we would appreciate your support to help make them a happy and joyful time for our Viking Child Care Center families.

Your kindness last year helped us to purchase gift cards for our needy families. They were very much appreciated by the parents, who are often full-time students. Many of them are young, single parents, trying to make ends meet and provide the necessities for their children.

In the spirit of the season, will you please help to make this holiday season a little brighter for our young children?

Checks may be made payable to the Viking Child Care Center Holiday Fund and forwarded to the Child Care Center or the FSA Business Office.

We would like to thank each of you who have donated in the past and who are able to do so this year. You make a difference for our families!

For the past 15 years, the Human Services Club has adopted student families within the Hudson Valley community for the holiday season. This year we have recveived 20 applications from students requesting gifts for a total of 52 children.

This event has brought happiness to many families over the years and has also helped join numerous clubs in working together to help their fellow students. The club needs some assistance this year from the larger HVCC family. We are hoping to receive donations of wrapping paper, batteries, gift tags, ribbon and gift bags. Your donations will allow the club to use proceeds from fundraisers on specific gifts that have been placed on the Holiday Wish List.

We would welcome donations of any kind in making this a joyous holiday season for our students. Donations can be dropped off in the Human Services office in BRN 008.

Thank you!
