On Aug. 10, 2013, Information Technology Services is changing the system which authenticates a person’s identity when logging in to HVCC computer systems from LDAP to Active Directory. This system will be stronger, more robust and more secure.
Prior to this change, you will be given a web link in e-mail and a Chronicle announcement to synchronize your password for the new system. This web link will prompt you for your current username and password. Once you have completed this step, you will be able to login after the change occurs on August 10 with no further work on your part.
Since it is the authentication engine that is changing, you will retain the same username, e-mail and access rights you have today.
After the transition, there will be some minor differences when you first login. Here are some details that may be different upon your first login after Aug. 10, 2013:
- Some items such as wallpaper and browser history may not be immediately available. These items will be in a location within your H: drive where they can be retrieved and reapplied. If you need assistance for this, you can open a ticket with ITS in advance.
- ITS will be creating tickets for identified users of Microsoft Outlook and the Zimbra Outlook Connector. If prior to Aug. 10, 2013, a ticket has not been created for you, please open a ticket with ITS to make sure we have reconfigured your Outlook settings to accommodate Zimbra after the change.
Updates and reminders to complete the synchronization process will be forthcoming.
