What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season? Your family? Your friends? Your education? Security? Peace?

Let us remember those who may not feel especially thankful at this time due to their lack of any of the above. Too many people still go hungry. Too many live in broken homes. Too many are lonely. Too many still live in fear and hopelessness.

We know that our neighbors who lost everything to Hurricane Sandy are still suffering in ways unimaginable to most of us. I am thankful for the ways we come together to help those in need, the ways in which we attempt to ease the pain of others through small and seemingly insignificant acts of kindness, and the ways we persist in helping one another even when the challenges seem too daunting.

Therefore, I pray that we all will find hope and reason to give thanks.

Enjoy a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
