“1942: A Year of Infamy” Voices lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 11

The Voices: A Library Lecture Series committee is pleased to present “1942: A Year of Infamy” on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at noon in the BTC Auditorium.

Seventy-five years ago, Manila was captured by Japanese military forces, German U-boats had sunk 609 ships off the coast of the United States and the Nazis held a conference to decide the “final solution to the Jewish problem.” German General Irwin Rommel, known as “The Desert Fox,” captured Benghazi, Libya. The Imperial Japanese army and navy were on the verge of capturing Rangoon, Burma and Singapore. This was just January.

Anthropologist and historian David Van Aken, assistant professor at Hudson Valley Community College, recounts the important events as America entered World War II.
