The recipient of the 2013 Dr. Joseph J. Bulmer Award for Excellence in Library Research was announced by Assistant Professor Valerie (Lang) Waldin, chair of the selection committee.
Erin Sawyer was chosen for her paper, “Stuck in the Middle: Middle Class Voting Behavior and its Determining Factors.” She was nominated by Associate Professor Sushmita Chatterji of the English, Modern Languages and English as a Second Language Department.
Ms. Sawyer will be recognized at the annual Student Honors and Awards Reception on Thursday, May 16.
Foundation awards must be finalized in late April. The librarians understand that this time frame eliminates the end-of-spring-semester papers from consideration for that given academic year. Papers that receive a grade of A after this year’s April 26 deadline can be submitted for the following academic year’s award. Recipients who have moved on to another institution or are out of the area will still be included on a plaque in the Marvin Library, receive a monetary award, be recognized at Student Honors and cited in the commencement program.
Please nominate the outstanding papers you are receiving as this semester concludes for consideration for next year’s award.
