The Dwight Marvin Library faculty is pleased to announce the recipient of the the 2016-17 Dr. Joseph J. Bulmer for Award in Excellence in Library Research.
This year’s honor goes to Thomas Michael Smith for his paper, Few New Antibiotics: Even in the Face of Antibiotic Resistance, submitted in fulfillment of requirements for English Composition, under the direction of Assistant Professor Sara Tedesco.
Thomas’s research paper, focusing on the declining effectiveness of antibiotics in infection management, included a well-balanced combination of library resources and credible Web sites in proper Modern Language Association (MLA 8) format. Tom self-nominated his paper for the Award, followed by Professor Tedesco’s confirmation of a grade of “A.”

Thomas will be recognized this Friday evening at the Student Honors and Awards ceremony in the McDonough Complex, in the commencement program, on a perpetual plaque in the Dwight Marvin Library Learning Commons, and will receive a monetary award administered by The Foundation.
