The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (AIE) Committee met on Oct. 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. The meeting minutes are as follows:
l. Shared Governance Update
Dr. Geehan reiterated her statement from the last meeting, suggesting that the AIE Committee would address a Shared Governance rubric if SUNY doesn’t complete its work on it within the expected time frame.
Dr. Geehan also reiterated that the upcoming SCoA “Connecting the Dots” curriculum mapping conference would be on Oct. 24 at MVCC. Members are encouraged to attend if possible.
ll. Middle States Update
Jim Macklin reviewed recently announced changes in reporting requirements by Middle States. In summary, the requirements include information related to:
Student Achievement
a) Graduation rate
b) Student Loan Default Rate
c) Student Loan Repayment Rate
And
Financial Health
a) Primary Reserve Ratio
b) Net Income Ratio
c) Viability Ratio
d) Debt Burden Ratio
e) Return on Net Assets Ratio
f) Tuition Discount Ratio
g) Operating Revenues Ratio
h) Tuition Dependency Ratio
This information is expected to be collected annually and reviewed by MS every four years, starting in Spring 2020 for Hudson Valley Community College.
Additionally, it was agreed that “Financial Health” will become a Core Indicator starting this year, likely replacing Core Indicator 5.1 Revenue/cost difference per FTE.
lll. Advisement Assessment
Dr. Geehan discussed a revised version of the draft advisement survey previously reviewed. A few more edits were recommended by Committee members and Dr. Geehan agreed to produce a final draft for consideration by DCs, Deans and VPAA. The draft will first go to the VPAA for review and feedback, then sent forward to advisors, deans and DCs.
