Dear Students,
On behalf of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), we are currently accepting nominations for the 2017-2018 All-USA Community College Academic Team and the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Programs. Approximately $400,000 in scholarships will be awarded to outstanding community college students across the nation, and we have an opportunity to nominate four students from Hudson Valley Community College.
This is a national competition, open to all Hudson Valley students, and nominations are welcome from PTK student members, as well as students who are not members. Two nominations are reserved for students who intend to transfer for further study; the remaining two are for students who intend to enter the workforce. The deadline for submitting nominations is Nov. 17, 2017.
Nominations must meet the following criteria: students who have demonstrated outstanding performance within an academically-rigorous program, earned high grade point averages; and have been recognized through awards and honors for academic achievement. Demonstrated service to the college and community also is important. Letters of recommendations are required. An important part of the application is an essay describing how the student has used his or her community college education to improve his or her community or institution. Evaluators who review the essays will look primarily for innovative, creative, original and lasting achievements.
Again, both PTK and non-PTK members are welcome to apply.

Scholarship recipients will be recognized by USA TODAY, Follett, and Coca-Cola, and nominees to these programs are recognized in All-State Academic Team programs held in 38 states. All-State Team programs may offer students academic scholarships, stipends, newspaper coverage, medallions and/or certificates.
Applications must be completed and successfully submitted by Nov. 17, 2017, including submission of letters of recommendations. After all applications have been received, you will be notified if you have been selected as a nominee.
