Pride of Our Nation… Pride of Our College exhibition opens today, Nov. 9

 

Two special events mark the Thursday, Nov. 9 opening of the seventh annual “Pride of Our Nation… Pride of Our College” exhibition, a display of military photographs and memorabilia submitted each year by faculty, staff and students, in the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Atrium in the Marvin Library Learning Commons.

All are welcome to attend the opening reception is at 5 p.m. on Nov. 9. The exhibition is on view through Dec. 7, the 76th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War II, during regular hours in the Marvin Library.

“Pride of Our Nation… Pride of Our College,” a collaborative effort on the part of employees from several departments, is an ever-changing collection of official and family photographs and memorabilia of veterans and active military service members with a connection to the college. At 3 p.m. on Nov. 9, a press event highlights a generous donation to the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation from AllSquare Wealth Management of Albany. CEO Douglas Bauer will present checks totaling $15,000 that benefit student veterans. The gift earmarks $10,000 for the SSG Derek J. Farley Memorial Veterans Support Fund, which will be used to purchase automotive and construction tools for eligible veterans who are enrolled in certain academic programs, as well as $5,000 for “Pride of Our Nation… Pride of Our College.”

The press event also is open free to the public.
