Student-Centered Learning

The Center for Effective Teaching, Distance Learning Office and the Department of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences are most excited to welcome Timothy Allen as he presents “Myths and Reality: A Way to Stimulate Student Centered Learning.”

This workshop explores myths and realities and how to inspire students to examine critically what they are taught. Using the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians as examples and using the Internet for research, this will be a hands-on workshop for participants to research myths and realities in their own fields and use this material to develop new or revised course content.

This workshop is ideal for all teachers in the humanities and social sciences. Emphasis will be on developing new ways to encourage student-centered learning in teaching online and hybrid courses as well as traditional classes.
