2017 alumnus battling cancer

Dylan Pollock, who graduated in May 2017 with a degree in Criminal Justice, was diagnosed this fall with a rare cancer that prevented him from finishing his first semester at SUNY Albany and playing on the baseball team as he’d done here at Hudson Valley. Dylan had excelled on and off the field, and was named to Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. When he was in my English Composition II class, I remember Dylan reaching out to help another student dealing with a difficult personal situation. This act of kindness made a lasting impression on me. He also submitted work to “Threads,” the college’s student literary publication, and was an all around great student.

Despite some recent setbacks, the game plan, according to Dylan, is to get back to school and ultimately get back to playing baseball. Anyone interested in helping Dylan and his family with the mounting expenses associated with his treatment (much of which is taking place in Massachusetts), are invited to visit https://www.gofundme.com/teamdylan9-winnersneverquit.

Thank you,
