The Voices: A Library Lecture Series Committee is pleased to present “How a Railroad Lawyer Became the Great Emancipator” by Dr. Paul Finkelman on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 11-11:50 a.m. in the BTC Auditorium.
Dr. Paul Finkelman of Albany Law School examines Abraham Lincoln’s road to issuing the Emancipation Proclamation. Finkelman considers the political and constitutional constraints on Lincoln as well as the impact of the military progress of the Civil War on his decision to issue the Emancipation Proclamation.
Following Dr. Finkelman’s presentation, everyone is welcome to attend a reception at the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Atrium in the Dwight Marvin Library. Refreshments will be served.
