Lincoln series presenter at Troy Public Library today at 6:30 pm

As part of the programming series in association with the exhibition of “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War”, Dr. P. Thomas Carroll, Executive Director of the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway, presents “The Capital Region’s Role in the Story of the U.S.S. Monitor” on Monday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Troy Public Library.

Off the northern edge of this campus, the Burden Iron Works churned out enormous quantities of horseshoes and other materiel in support of the Union forces. Troy was at the center of the production of U.S.S. Monitor, the famous ironclad vessel that changed the course of naval warfare. Learn the drama involved in the decision to utilize the Monitor.  Your view of Mill Street and Burden Avenue will forever be changed.

Join us for the library’s first programming collaboration with Troy Public Library at 6:30 p.m. at 100 2nd Street in downtown Troy.  The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition in the Marvin Library Learning Commons will be on display through Feb. 28.  Visit http://www.hvcc.edu/lincoln-exhibit for additional events.
