Four students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MECT) and Advanced Manufacturing (Adv. Man.) Programs earned an Associate Certificate from the SolidWorks Corporation for their knowledge of the SolidWorks Software.
The Certification SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) is earned by taking a five-part, three-hour exam using the software SolidWorks. The students had to correctly identify drafting techniques, build, analyze, and modify mechanical parts, and finally, build, modify, and analyze mechanical assemblies.
All students in MECT and Adv. Man. learn SolidWorks during their first semester. Students use the software to create parts, assemblies and drawings which can then be used to create manufactured parts. The CSWA exam is offered by SolidWorks to show that the user has obtained a level of expertise in the fundamentals of the software.
SolidWorks licensed Hudson Valley Community College as an official test provider in January 2018 allowing the college to administer the examination to students at no cost to the student. Students who achieve the CSWA can choose to be listed in the SolidWorks database and are awarded a certificate and electronic badge.
