On Tuesday, July 10, we had another unexpected power outage. However, this outage produced some critical information about our recent struggles and enabled us to identify what we believe to be the source of the problem.
As a result, several new pieces of the Cogen’s communication system were replaced over the past two days, including a communication tap that we believe was the root cause of the power issues. We also were able to add some redundancy to the fiber optic backbone of the system.
At this time, our power dependability has been restored. While our power system is never going to be perfect, Physical Plant has confidence that we have repaired and addressed recent issues. We are also working on improving our communication process to keep the campus community informed of future issues.
