The Friends of Oakwood Cemetery will host a Twilight Tour on Monday, Aug. 27 beginning at 6 p.m. Tour participants will assemble at the flag pole outside the Earl Memorial Chapel.
The event offers a great opportunity to see the Oakwood Cemetery in the early evening and hear fascinating stories surrounding the many monuments for Civil War generals, the founding fathers of Troy, and some interesting residents newly added to our tour. Highlights are Uncle Sam’s grave, the Earl Chapel and the panoramic overlook at sunset! If the sky is clear, a full moon should be visible at the close of the tour.
Please call (518) 328-0090 to register and pay upon arrival, $15 per person. (Children under 12 are free.) Most tours are rain or shine, but check Facebook (Oakwood Cemetery Troy NY) if weather is a concern.
Proceeds of events hosted by the all-volunteer Friends of Oakwood support the preservation and maintenance of the historic Earl Chapel and the beautiful grounds of Oakwood Cemetery.
