The Office of Community & Professional Education would like to share some highlights from our 2018 Summer Kids on Campus Program. Over 950 campers participated in a variety of programs on the main campus, at TEC-SMART and at Bethlehem Middle School this summer. Programs included athletics, theater, circus, cooking, science, computers, arts and technology. More than 100 sections were available to campers.
We are fortunate to have several of our Hudson Valley Community College coaches including Travis Cooke (men’s soccer) and Mike Muehling (football), Alyssa Ruggiero (golf), and Kelsey Wilson (Volleyball) coaching in our athletic camp programs.
In our Summer Academy program, we brought back our ever-popular Forensics Classes turning Williams Hall into a crime scene. Our kitchen classroom was full of campers and delicious foods! Our cooking classes continue to be sell outs every week. This summer we offered Iron Chef Hudson Valley, Cupcake Wars, Dessert Imposters, Cooking for the Holidays and Plenty of Pizzas to name a few.
In the month of July, we had the opportunity to welcome 64 elementary students from the Troy City School District to our campus to attend an enrichment program with classes in STEM.
The success of these programs could not be achieved without the support of many offices and departments on campus. A special shout out to Public Safety, Physical Plant, Athletics, Events, Human Resources, Payroll, Communications and Marketing, Graphics, Central Receiving, Viking Video Technologies, Information Technology Services, and Health Services. And a special thanks to both the Grants Office and the Foundation for securing funds to provide 53 children with a scholarship to attend programs. Without this continued support we would not be able to provide children with an educational and fun camp experience.
