Collecting old blankets, scarves for homeless animals

Hugs USA  is a non-profit dedicated to collecting and distributing hats, umbrellas, underwear, gloves, scarves, and socks for the homeless across the United States.

A special aspect of Hugs USA is the distribution of old and used items to the animals of the homeless.

The Animal Outreach Club is collecting used blankets, scarves, and/or warm clothing for this purpose through the end of the semester.

Collection locations across campus include:

  • Guenther Enrollment Services Center (outside Financial Aid)
  • Siek Campus Center (near the staircase outside CAAT)
  • Bulmer Telecommunications Center
  • Administration Building
  • Brahan Hall
  • Science Center
  • Marvin Library Learning Commons.

Congratulations and thanks to Animal Outreach Club President Deanna Carr for doing all of the preparation, research, permissions and legwork on this initiative!

For more information on locations or additional questions, please contact Associate Professor/Library Valerie Lang Waldin at v.waldin@hvcc.edu, or Assistant Professor/HPSS Alan Joseph (a.joseph@hvcc.edu), co-advisers to the Animal Outreach Club.
