This week in athletics

 

Cross Country: The Hudson Valley Community College men’s and women’s cross-country teams were off this weekend and return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 for the Mountain Valley Conference Championships at Herkimer.

Football: The Hudson Valley Community College football (1-6) was defeated 16-11 on the road as Valley Forge Military College scored a game-winning touchdown with seconds remaining in the game. The game was a defensive showdown as the Vikings pinned Valley Forge deep in their zone several times during the game. The Vikings defense recorded an incredible four safeties on Valley Forge and helped Hudson Valley hold on to a 11-10 lead late into the game.

Men’s Soccer: Hudson Valley Community College men’s soccer (7-4) has been playing very well of late as the team has now won three straight games following its 5-1 win over Onondaga on Saturday afternoon in an important Region 3 match. The Vikings were led by Sylvain Ngakoand and Ryan Willis as the duo combined for all five scores on the day.

Women’s Soccer: Hudson Valley Community College women’s soccer (9-2-1) won a key NJCAA Region 3 match over Onondaga, 2-0, at home on Saturday afternoon. Sydnee Metzold scored both goals for the Vikings, her 21st and 22nd goals of the season.

Volleyball: The Hudson Valley Community College women’s volleyball team played well at the Adirondack pod and nearly pulled out a couple of wins, but couldn’t pull out any match wins at the Fulton-Montgomery pod on Saturday.
