Students and faculty members from Early Childhood and Dental Hygiene volunteered to help out at Paul’s Race for Recovery in Troy on Sunday, Oct. 21.
Early Childhood students acted as road marshals and distributed water and students from the Dental Hygiene set up a table for children to visit.
The race was part of a collaborative effort between the race organizers and the Troy Drug Free Coalition.
The goal of the race, which was dedicated to a local man who died of an opioid overdose last year, was to raise awareness and lower the stigma surrounding addiction.
The 5k walk/run, which was held in and around Oakwood Cemetery, had about 50 participants.
