Cheesecake provides learning experience for faculty and staff

 

Several faculty and staff members joined Donna Totaro, assistant director in the Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT), who led an for an informative and interactive workshop on Oct. 26 designed to foster understanding of the needs of students with learning disabilities.

Following an introduction to the concept of “disability” and to different types of learning disabilities, participants were given the task of making cheesecakes with directions that simulated varying degrees of “dyslexia.”

Participants were Jean Armstrong, Carol Bosco, Julie Demers, Mary Evans, Loretta Garrand, Nestor Guardado, Tara Isopo, Ellen Mall-John, Joshua Kohan, DeAnne Martocci,  Aaron Nooney, Maria Palmara, Kristen Rogan, Lovern Shadwick, Lindsey St. Clair, Kenneth Tremont, Brian Vlieg, and Michelle Wiltsie .
