Manufacturing Technical Systems Capstone Ceremony is today

HVCC Employees:

This is a special invitation to attend this year’s Manufacturing Technical Systems Capstone Ceremony that will take place at noon on Thursday, May 9 in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium.

This year marks the 20th year for the Capstone Ceremony. The ceremony itself lasts about 75 minutes and all students are recognized for their work on this year’s 18 capstone models that took approximately 14,000 hours to construct.

The 18 working models will be on display, demonstrated and presented to this year’s corporate capstone sponsors: General Electric Power Systems, Zak Incorporated, Kintz Plastics, General Electric Global Research, Benet Labs, Saturn Industries, Dorsey Metrology, Haas Automation, Allendale Machinery Systems, Blanchard Industrial Supplies, Simmons Machine Tool, Sandvik Coromant Corp., Watervliet Arsenal and Temper Corporation. The estimated value of these eighteen models is in excess of $80,000.

Also, cash awards totaling $1,300 will be presented to students with the highest GPAs.

This year, 37 graduates will be recognized. Companies where these students will be employed on a full-time basis after graduation are: Watervliet Arsenal, Kintz Plastics, General Electric Power Systems, Simmons Machine Tools,  General Electric Global Research, Zak Incorporated, Package One, Niekamp Tool, Atlas Copco, Solid Sealing Technologies and Broadalbin Mfg. I expect this list to grow by a couple more companies.

Please plan to this special event on the HVCC calender. Feel free to bring other guests. This is a good chance to get better acquainted with the region’s only college manufacturing program.

I look forward to seeing you on May 9.

Sincerely,
Dave Larkin
Professor
