The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee (AIEC) met on Dec. 11, 2018 at 1 p.m. The meeting minutes are as follows:
Dr. Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. Dr. Bosco updated the committee on the “12 days of giving” charity activity discussed at the previous AIEC meeting on Nov. 27. She reported that the campus exceeded the 1,200 item goal by collecting 1,400 clothing and personal care items for Joseph’s House of Troy. That number subsequently grew to 2,393 items. As a follow up to this success, Dr. Geehan proposed that the 2019 committee meetings serve as a bimonthly opportunity for committee members to bring non- perishable food items for placement in the college food pantry in the Siek Campus Center. The proposal was unanimously supported by committee members.
While enjoying a year-end lunch and dessert, the committee resumed the task of reviewing remaining Middle States Accreditation Standards and identifying college resources which are directed toward them. The overall purpose of this ongoing effort will be to ensure that Hudson valley Community College meets or exceeds all required Standards in preparation for the next MSCHE visit to the college, which is currently slated for 2023.
The committee went through Standards III (Design and Delivery of the Student Learning Experience) and IV (Support of the Student Experience), leaving Standards V through VII for the next meeting(s).
The meeting was adjourned at 2 p.m.
The next meeting was scheduled for Jan. 15, 2019.
