At a special meeting of the Student Christian Association on Monday, March 11, Physics Professor Jeff Schoonmaker will present a survey of the Intelligent Design Movement. He will give a brief history of its origin, why it is controversial in some circles, and what its implications are concerning the origin of life.
The meeting will be held at 2 p.m. in BRN 107.
Special attention will be paid to the differences between simplicity, complexity, and specified complexity as those terms relate to complex biological machines and the sudden appearance of novel structures. The information content of DNA will be addressed in general, easy to understand terms.
Students and faculty from all disciplines are are welcome to attend. No knowledge of science is required.
