Veterans Educational Outreach Project (VEOP) hopes to increase veteran student enrollment

Efforts to increase veteran student enrollment will be enhanced this spring and throughout the summer by working more closely with area Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Posts,  American Legion Posts, the Veteran Administration Hospital and the Disabled American Veteran (DAV) organization. There are more than 60 organizations that serve veterans and their families in the Capital District. There are approximately 260 veterans enrolled this semester at Hudson Valley Community College.

The goal is to strengthen relationships with each of the organizations by requesting opportunities to speak with veterans and family members on the enrollment process, and introduce academic and certificate programs offered at Hudson Valley, according to Louis Coplin, interim vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Development. A representative from the VFW Scholarship Program said the Help-A-Hero Scholarship provides service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals without incurring excessive student loan debt.

The veterans educational outreach project (VEOP) is part of the Enrollment Management and Student Development’s Community Outreach Projects for Leadership Innovation and Networking.
