Jonathan Ashdown named interim dean

 

Dr. Jonathan Ashdown, assistant professor in the Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies Department, was named Interim Dean of the Schools of Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies during the Board of Trustees regular meeting on March 26. The appointment is effective June 1. Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. MaryAnn Janosik is acting dean until that date.

Ashdown received his A.S. degree in Engineering Science from Hudson Valley Community College in 2004, followed by B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from RPI in 2006, 2008, and 2012, respectively. He is a co-inventor of several cutting-edge technologies including an ultrasonic through-wall communication system which is being utilized in several industries including defense and oil and gas, and has approximately 25 peer-reviewed papers and six awarded patents. He is certified with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a General Class amateur radio operator and is also certified with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a commercial unmanned aerial systems (UAS) operator.
