Representatives from Hudson Valley, including Board Chairman Neil Kelleher and Foundation Executive Director Regina LaGatta, as well its government sponsor, Rensselaer County, and the University at Albany, visited Costa Rica from March 19-24 to foster education and economic development partnerships with local schools and businesses.

The group, which included UAlbany President Havidan Rodriguez and Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin, made presentations before the Congress of Costa Rica, attended meetings with the First Lady of Costa Rica and individual members of Congress as well as the country’s Minister of Education. They also met with more than 200 Costa Rican business leaders and visited several universities and schools interested in establishing a working relationship with the New York colleges and Rensselaer County businesses.

After receiving an invitation from the Costa Rican government, the trip was planned in partnership with the Costa Rica Investment and Promotion Agency (CINDE) and PROCOMER, two economic development organizations promoting education, business and industry collaboration with Costa Rica.
