This week in athletics

 

Men’s Lacrosse
The lacrosse team finished the week 2-0 and has now won five straight games as it heads into the final week of the regular season. Hudson Valley defeated Mohawk Valley, 22-5, and Jefferson, 12-4. Lacrosse’s final home game is Wednesday, April 17 against Finger Lakes at the OAC.

Baseball
The baseball team has won four straight games after sweeping home doubleheaders against Fulton-Montgomery and ASA Brooklyn. The Vikings players are rolling right now and are looking to build upon their momentum from last week with games against Cayuga and Mohawk Valley this week.

Track and Field
In all, there were 24 combined new season or personal bests at the Delhi Invitational on April 13 meet and one new school record. Mercedes Planavskyin completed the 1500m with a new personal best of 5:11.75 to break the old record by six seconds!

The Vikings finished the day with three individuals topping the competition. Jared Crawstarted won the 3000m Steeplechase for the second week in a row. Teammate Elijah Washingtonwon took the hammer throw for the second straight week with a toss of 43.06m. Washington also placed second in the shot put earlier in the day. Fellow thrower Immanuel Manerafinished was first in the javelin with a throw of 39.34m.

Men’s and Women’s Golf
The golf program had a busy first weekend with matches at Onondaga on April 13 and Tompkins Cortland on April 14 The Vikings placed sixth at Onondaga with a score of 377 and improved for a third-place finish on Sunday at Tompkins Cortland with a score of 322.
