Update on new library system

As previously announced, the Dwight Marvin Library will update its system used for circulation, cataloging and other core functions beginning in early summer. As part of the planning and preparation, please note the following:

  • No new print books or DVDs will be added to the system after May 3 until the new system is available in early July.
  • Any new reserve textbooks or items needed on reserve for summer classes must be submitted by Friday, May 3.  Note that nearly all items designated to be used as summer textbooks are already processed and ready for summer classes.  Contact library staff Donna Craver with questions.
  • The online catalog will be replaced in early July with a new search interface. In addition, the current OneSearch search interface will be replaced. Faculty with library catalog or OneSearch search assignments for late summer or fall classes will need to update student instructions. Contact the library for additional information or assistance.
  • Longer loan periods will be in effect starting with the first day of summer semester on Monday, May 20.
  • Faculty who link directly to database articles in Blackboard are encouraged to contact the library to determine if links need to be updated or if existing links will be unaffected by this transition.

Additional updates will be posted to the Chronicle in the coming weeks.

Please contact Brenda Hazard, library director, with questions about the transition.
