Marvin Library Learning Commons to celebrate 50 Years

MRVLC 50 logo

The 2019-20 academic year will feature a variety of special events to celebrate the opening of the Marvin Library building in May 1970. The campus and the community will be invited to exhibits, speakers and tours, culminating in a birthday bash featuring the burial of a time capsule to be opened at the building’s centennial in 2070 (how’s that for optimism!).

Special thanks to the Marvin Library 50th Planning Committee which is focused on engaging current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community in the building’s past and future. Please contact any committee member with a suggestion or a special memory of MRV that you wish to share:

  • Anne Rappaport, Library Outreach Specialist, Co-chair
  • John Staerker, Library Technical Assistant, Co-chair
  • Debby Gardner, Office of Communications and Marketing
  • Professor Alan Joseph, History, Philosophy and Social Sciences
  • Professor Jim LaBate, Learning Centers
  • Tylan Nino, Library Clerk
  • Jana Putzig, Foundation/Alumni Association

We look forward to your participation in our year-long celebration ahead!
