CAAT student attends Challenged Athlete Foundation training camp in San Diego

Michele “Chele” Teabout, an Individual Studies student who receives services through the college’s Center for Access and Assistive Technology, attended a Challenged Athlete Foundation training camp held May 17-19 in San Diego, CA.

Teabout studied Criminal Justice at Hudson Valley in the early 1990s. An on-the-job injury while working as a corrections officer in 1997 ultimately lead to Teabout having a leg amputated below the knee in 2014. Roughly a year later, she connected with CAF’s Operation Rebound Program for military, police and first responders.

Learn how CAF’s support helped Teabout turn her life around to become an athlete who has completed 11 triathlons in this television interview conducted by NBC Channel 7 in San Diego during the training camp.
