Office of Workforce Development offers PV Installation Basics (Solar Energy) beginning June 4

PV INSTALLATION BASICS (Solar Energy)
Prepare for employment in the
growing sustainable energy industry!

Students enrolled in Hudson Valley Community College’s Office of Workforce Development will now be able to take solar training courses at reduced fees thanks to a $25,000 investment from Cypress Creek Renewables. This investment will help provide reduced course fees for students interested in solar job training, with a focus on bringing more women, veterans and underrepresented people into the industry.

PV Installation Basics is eligible for this funding!

Our 20-hour course answers the needs of local PV company owners who want trained, entry-level workers with basic PV skills. As an introduction to Solar Energy, students will learn to safely and effectively perform installation tasks as a trained, entry-level worker does in the field.

Course topics will include:
— Basic electrical safety
— Basic measuring
— Construction safety
— Electrical grounding and bonding
— Hand-held power tools
— PV racking systems
— PV module handling and installation
— Rooftop safety
— Weather proofing
