Dr. Margaret Geehan, chairman, opened the AIE Committee meeting at 1 p.m.
She provided a brief update on Middle States accreditation activities. The Annual Institutional Update (AIU) was provided to Middle States last week and the Mid-Point Peer Review is expected to take place in summer 2019. This will be mostly transparent as Middle States will consult IPEDS and financial data to complete the review.
Kathy Petley provided an update on the Strategic Planning process. She reported that she and co-chair Dennis Kennedy would be meeting with Campus Labs today to map next steps. Implementation committees have been formed and organized as teams addressing each of the six Plan Priorities. The Strategic Plan is expected to be placed before the Board of Trustees for approval on May 28. Approval is expected since the Board has been both briefed and involved as drafts have been developed. Summer activities will include review of the college’s core values and mission to insure that they are in sync with the Strategic Plan
Ms. Petley also reviewed an update of the Strata recommendations, which were discussed at the last meeting. Her update showed that each of the recommendations has been completed, rejected for good cause or are in progress.
Dr. Geehan then reviewed remaining Core Indicators, updated with the results of the 2019 Employee Satisfaction Survey. The committee discussed Demographics, Physical Plant, Civility and Training and Development. Discussion ensued as results showed varying degrees of improvement in many categories. Clear progress was made in many categories as will be seen in the summary of the survey, which will be placed in the Campus Chronicle in summer.
Ainsley Thomas discussed recent progress made in cultivating productive relationships with community organizations, made possible through involvement with interfaith groups. These relationships hold promise in dealing with students’ most basic needs while attending Hudson Valley.
The meeting was adjourned at 2 p.m.
Subsequent meetings are June 4, June 18, July 9, July 23, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20.
