School of Business graduate Jerry Ford ’10 will be the guest speaker for the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) YouthBuild graduation ceremony Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the BTC auditorium.
YouthBuild helps 16 to 24-year-olds who did not finish high school. Young people enter the approximately 7-month program with the end goal of earning their GED and learning a trade. About 25 young people will be graduating at this ceremony.
Jerry’s topic will be “How True Leaders Rise to the Challenge.” He currently works in the CEO’s WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program as a store coordinator for a 20-county region. His duties include making sure all stores who are part of the WIC program meet their contractual obligations to the program as well as training personnel for new stores who are offering the program.
Jerry also serves as a mentor to students in the YouthBuild program. While he was a student at HVCC, he was one of several chosen to meet President Barack Obama on his visit to campus.
