A personal favor for a proud mom of a U.S. Army National Guard Soldier

Hello!

My name is Sandy Goyer and I’ve been with Hudson Valley Community College for 21 years, currently Program Assistant III for Medical Imaging.

My daughter SGT Shannon Goyer is currently serving in Iraq as a Field Medic for the U.S. Army National Guard. Next month Shannon will be turning 30 years old and I’m asking for help with sending her cards and letters of support, well wishes and love from “home.”

I will be sending out a package to her by Aug. 23 to be sure her letters get to her for her birthday on Sept. 16. If you would like to participate, please forward your card or letter to me via interoffice mail (BRN 026).

It is my hope for Shannon to receive at least 100 cards and letters from all over the world if possible! 🙂

At little more about Shannon and why I am such a proud mom:

Shannon attended Hudson Valley Community College for a short time before being sponsored by a local rescue squad where she found her true passion of serving others. Shortly after completing her certification, she enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard then moved to Arizona where she expanded on her first-responder training, trained as a firefighter, joined the police department as a 911 dispatcher and eventually completed the Police Academy with the highest academic achievements and certification as “Best Driver.” (Her dad can take credit for that one!) She re-signed her second six-year contract because she had not been deployed during her first term and wanted to serve at a higher level.

Thank you in advance for reading this and for your support and participation.
It is my hope that she can be literally flooded with cards and letters for her birthday!

Proud Army National Guard soldier mom,

Sandy Goyer
