As part of a summer-long community outreach effort to increase awareness and share information on the abundant educational opportunities offered at Hudson Valley, the college will be represented at the annual Community Family Fun Day at Prospect Park in Troy, on Friday, Aug. 23.
Sponsored by Kingdom Ministries of Troy, the Community Family Fun Day will offer community residents information on essential services provided by local agencies and institutions of higher education. Billy Carter, Kingdom Ministries President, and an alum of Hudson Valley Community College, said the family fun day is an important opportunity for networking and sharing information to assist members of the community who are seeking support to enhance the quality of life in their community. The college will facilitate an information table and will be reminding participants that its not to late to enroll for the fall semester.
The college also participated in a similar community event on Saturday, Aug. 17 in Albany at the Metropolitan Baptist Church’s Community Day and College Fair. Well over 100 residents had the opportunity to speak with local and state agencies, as well as representatives from Hudson Valley, the University at Albany and Bryant and Stratton.
Community outreach partnering will continue through the fall semester, according to Louis Coplin, vice president for Student Affairs. If you are a member of a community/neighborhood or faith-based organization, and are planning events that seeks vendors, please contact (518) 629-7307.
