Frederick Douglass: Stories Are Tellin’ today at noon

The Voices: A Library Lecture Series Committee is pleased to present Frederick Douglass: Stories Are Tellin’ Tuesday, March 6, Noon-1:50 p.m. in the BTC Auditorium.

Guy Peartree performs a one-act play in the character of Frederick Douglass in 1859, when the relentless anti-slavery orator was sought for arrest by the state of Virginia for his alleged activity in John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry. The character looks back on his life from his birth into slavery, his relationships and experiences on the slave plantation and his education, up to his escape from slavery and his ascendancy as America’s foremost black abolitionist.
