Cross Country
the Hudson Valley men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the SUNY Poly Short Track Meet on Aug. 31 morning to jumpstart the 2019 season.

The women’s program placed ninth out of 10 qualifying programs, which included nine four-year programs. Hudson Valley was led by freshman McKenzie Ryan, who finished the 4K race with a time of 18:38.

The men’s program finished in 11th place out of 12 qualifying teams in the 6K race of the SUNY Poly Invitational. Sophomore Joseph Degiorgio crossed the line first for the Vikings as he finished with a final time of 22:11, good for 33rd overall.

Football
The Hudson Valley football program dropped its 2019 season opener, 31-27, on the road at Ithaca JV on Sept. 1 afternoon. Desi Floyd had a tremendous game rushing the ball as he finished the game as the Vikings leading rusher with 121 yards on 19 carries. Tahj Snow also had a great rushing game and finished with 82 yards on 16 carries. Melvin Reid averaged 20 yards per reception and finished with a team high 160 yards on eight catches.

Hudson Valley’s defense also recorded three interceptions, including picks on two consecutive Ithaca drives at the end of the second quarter. Anas Nichols, Daniel Slade and Hayden Spock each tallied an interception for the Vikings defense.

Volleyball
The Hudson Valley women’s volleyball team got off to a strong start in 2019 as they defeated Paul Smith’s College 3-1 on Aug. 31 in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

After dropping the first set, the Vikings regrouped to claim the next three sets to win the match. With the match tied at one game apiece, the Vikings freshman Andraya Warner-Davis served through 13 straight Vikings points to take a 19-9 advantage in the third set. Warner-Davis had a monster match serving as she finished with 17 total service aces.

Men’s Soccer
The 2019 season begins Tuesday, Sept. 3 as the Vikings welcome Fulton-Montgomery to the Outdoor Athletic Complex. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Women’s Soccer
The 2019 women’s soccer team is scheduled to start its season on Thursday, Sept. 5 against Dutchess at home. Game is set to begin at 3 p.m.

Women’s Tennis
It is not too late to sign up and join the women’s tennis program! The first match is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7. Be sure to visit the athletic department in McDonough, room 219, to sign up!
