The historic Melville House, home to the Lansingburgh Historical Society, will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. A $5 donation at the door will be appreciated.
The event will include a poetry and prose reading from noon to 2 p.m. featuring the four winners of the “Dear Herman” competition — Susan Carroll Jewel, Tom Corrado, Mark W. O’Brien and Dianne Sefcik, as well as other contestants. The competition, in honor of Melville’s 200th birthday, was conducted in August by Nancy Klepsch and Dan Wilcox, local poets, with funding from the Hudson Valley Writers Guild.
