Collage City: Sculpture and Installation by Peter Dudek and Susan Meyer opens Thursday, Sept. 19 in The Teaching Gallery, located on the ground floor of the Administration Building. A reception with the artists runs from 4 to 6 p.m.
In Collage City, Dudek and Meyer investigate the dream of modernist and utopian societies and design through sculpture, collage and installation. Sculptor Dudek serves on the faculty at the School of Visual Arts and Hunter College, where he earned BFA and Master of Arts degrees, respectively. His career – both exhibiting and teaching – spans 40 years and many cities across the United States. A graduate of Skidmore College, Meyer earned a MFA degree from the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, Boston, MA and is an associate professor in the Center for Art and Design at The College of Saint Rose. Since 1995, her sculptural environments and installations have been widely exhibited from Long Beach, CA to Washington, DC.
Dudek discusses his work at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium. Meyer’s artist talk is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, also in the BTC Auditorium.
The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 26. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday; noon to 4 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday and Monday.
