9th annual exhibition: Pride of Our Nation… Pride of Our College
Submission deadline is Thursday, Oct. 10
The 9th annual Pride of Our Nation… Pride of Our College veterans exhibit will open in Marvin Library Commons on Saturday, Nov. 9 and run through Saturday, Dec. 7. Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit photographs of loved ones or relatives, who served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
To participate in this special event, please submit original or scanned photographs to Associate Professor Alice Malavasic in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences (MRV 110), no later than Thursday, Oct. 10. Photographs submitted and exhibited last year will be included in the display along with the new ones. (Those who submitted photographs last year may do so again, but priority will be given to first-time submissions.)
This year the exhibit will include a new “in memoriam” section dedicated to veterans who passed away between October 2018 and October 2019. If you would like to include your family member in the memoriam, please contact Alice Malavasic at a.malavasic@hvcc.edu.
All submissions must meet the following criteria.
The photograph or photographs must be of a family member or relative in uniform during his or her time of service and include a brief, typed statement that includes the following information:
- Name of the service person and time of service or conflict served in.
- Branch of service and any additional information available such as rank, regiment, company, awards and battles fought in.
- Your name and relationship to the service person in the photograph. If you are a student, please include your major. If you are a member of the faculty or staff, please include your department.
Artifacts will be accepted along with photographs and displayed in locked cases. If you wish to submit an artifact with your photograph, please contact Alice Malavasic directly at a.malavasic@hvcc.edu or at (518) 629-7697.
