Cross Country
The men’s and women’s cross country teams were off last weekend. They return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they travel to compete in the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State in Massachusetts.
Football
The Hudson Valley football team (2-3) went on the road and gave an historic performance as the Vikings defeated Ithaca JV, 36-14, in Ithaca on Sunday evening, Oct. 6.
Running back Desi Floyd became the first Viking to surpass 250 rushing yards in a game since Vikings Hall of Famer Emmanuel Marc accomplished the feat three times during his record-breaking season in 2003. The Vikings ran with Floyd early and often as he continued to hit the open holes that were set up by Hudson Valley’s offensive line. Floyd finished the game with 32 rushing attempts for a total of 250 yards and added two touchdowns.
Volleyball
The Hudson Valley women’s volleyball program finished the week 1-3. The team earned a 3-1 match win over host Cayuga on Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Cayuga pod.
Men’s Soccer
Hudson Valley Community College men’s soccer (5-5-2) dropped a tough back-and-forth match, 4-3, at home against North Country on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Women’s Soccer
Hudson Valley Community College women’s soccer (8-3) scored five unanswered goals in the second half to defeat North Country, 8-5, on Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex here on the campus.
As the Vikings entered halftime, they trailed the North Country Saints, 5-3. Brooke Clough and Grace Cusack played well off of each other in the first half as the duo was responsible for all of the points scored in the first half.
In the second half, Cusack recorded three more goals for her first career five-goal game. Clough continued to set her teammates up for success as she added three more assists in the second half and finished the game with five assists to go with her one goal.
Women’s Tennis
Hudson Valley Community College women’s tennis did not have any matches over the weekend. They return to action on Monday, Oct. 7 when the team welcomes Herkimer at 4 p.m.
