Educator and author Doug Lemov will present -Strategies to Become a Better Educator- at the Bulmer Telecommunications Center auditorium from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12.
Lemov, who was recently featured in The New York Times Magazine, is a managing director of Uncommon Schools and superintendent of its True North Public Schools network, which includes Troy Prep Charter School. He was formerly the president of School Performance, a New York-based organization helping schools maximize student achievement, and also a founder and former principal of The Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter School, a high-achieving charter school in Boston.
During his three-hour session, Lemov will cover strategies from his book, -Teach Like a Champion: 49 Techniques That Put Students on the Path to College,- published by Jossey-Bass Teacher.
The program is co-sponsored by the college-s Teacher Preparation department and the Tinsley Institute for Human Services. Pre-registration is required and the cost for the session is $50; and $35 for students. The program is free for Hudson Valley students and faculty.
