Cross Country
The Hudson Valley men’s and women’s cross country programs competed in the annual James Earley Invitational at Westfield State University on Saturday morning.
The women’s program finished the 5K race 24th out of 28 qualifying teams. The busy race had nearly 200 individual runners participating and the Vikings were led by McKenzie Ryan, who finished the race with a final time of 21:14.18.
The men’s cross country team finished its 8K race 23rd out of 28 qualifying teams. The men’s race featured 206 individual runners and the Vikings were led by Evan Rogotzke, who finished the race with a time of 28:54.30.
Football
The Hudson Valley Community College football team (3-3) went on the road to win its second straight game after defeating the New Jersey Warriors, 35-7, on Saturday afternoon at St. Vianney High School in Holmdel, N.J.
Desi Floyd finished the game with 138 rushing yards on 21 carries, which included a 20-yard run, the longest on the day. In the last two games, Floyd had 388 rushing yards and four touchdowns for the Vikings offense.
Volleyball
The Hudson Valley women’s volleyball team went up against a top volleyball program in SUNY Adirondack and lost in straight sets, 3-0 on Wednesday evening in the McDonough Sports Complex.
The Vikings combined for 15 kills, seven assists and 36 digs over the course of the three-set match. Hudson Valley’s scoring was headlined by Katrina Vrooman’s five kills and Jacqueline McCormick’s four kills. Vrooman hit the ball well and finished with a team-high .300 hitting percentage.

Men’s Soccer
Hudson Valley Community College men’s soccer (5-7-2) lost both matches last week as the team was defeated by Ulster and Onondaga. The men’s soccer team will be home again on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. to play Jefferson.
Women’s Soccer
Women’s soccer (9-3) took the spotlight once again as the team defeated Onondaga, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon in Syracuse. Freshman Grace Cusack recorded the hat trick as she finished with three goals and one assist in the win over the Lazers.
Women’s Tennis
The women’s tennis team did not have any matches over the weekend. The NJCAA Region 3 Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20 at Drumlins Tennis Center in Syracuse.
