The Human Services Club in partnership with Unity House of Troy and the Campus Judicial Coordinator will be hosting a Domestic Violence Awareness Workshop on Monday, Oct. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. in BTC Meeting Room #3.
The workshop will feature two speakers: Sandra McCarthy, JD, campus judicial coordinator, and Sarah McGaughnea, Unity House’s manager of Community Outreach, Training and Support Services.
The workshop will be divided between student awareness and Campus Services presented by Sandra McCarthy, JD, Campus Judicial Coordinator and professional development hosted by Sarah
McGaughnea’s topic will be professional development and will provide useful information for future human services workers, criminal justice majors, all medical professionals and others. The professional development workshop will articulate signs and symptoms to assist future professionals in identifying possible victims. It will also contain an escalation workshop and important information for all future professionals in safe and effective interventions and identifying community resources.
Nursing students will be issued community service hours for their attendance.
