Maria Zemantauski among nominees for The Eddies

Maria Zemantauski, the college’s coordinator of Cultural Affairs and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media, is a nominee for a Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Award.

Zemantauski, a flamenco and classical guitar, and guitarist Sten Isachsen, who perform as the duo Sten and Maria Z, are among six individuals or groups nominated in the World Music Artist of the Year category. Isachsen also performs with Musicians of Ma’alwyck. He is an assistant professor of Music Audio Technology at SUNY Schenectady.

The Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards, or The Eddies, are an opportunity to amplify, empower and celebrate professionals working in the area’s wide-ranging music scene.

Founded in 2019, the Eddies were created by Jim Murphy and Salvatore Prizio. In the inaugural year, 63 luminaries drawn from the region’s talent pool including club owners, sound technicians, educators, journalists and performers judged 33 categories, granting Eddies to winners from a list of over 140 nominees (ranging from soloists and group to teachers, engineers, deejays, photographers and others).

The Eddies are a production of Capital Records Live!, Proctors Collaborative and The Collaborative regional arts magazine.
