Introduction to Revit® offers students intensified training in 3D computer-aided drafting (CAD), and building information modeling (BIM), using Autodesk® Revit®. The course provides students with an overview of Revit® software, focusing on light commercial project applications. This training is ideal for individuals/firms interested in updating or switching from 2D CAD to 3D and BIM.
Students will participate in the following activities:
– Producing 2D and 3D drawings
– Importing AutoCAD drawings and images into Revit®
– Understanding how Revit® helps with conflict avoidance of beams, pipes and HVAC ductwork before construction.
– Demonstrating Revit® plotting and sheets
– Creating/customizing title blocks
– Demonstrating advanced Revit® commands to create custom components (doors, windows, casework), walls and roofs.
– Completing presentation and working drawings.
Prerequisites: Minimum 10th-grade reading and math skills; computer skills, including familiarity with navigating the Windows operating system.
