Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
The Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) course is designed as an overview of the topics relating to the application and understanding of GD&T. Suitable for team members at all levels, including engineers, designers, quality personnel and production staff, the course is based on the current ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing standard.
The following critical GD&T topic areas will be covered:
- Concepts and rules
- Comparisons and advantages to conventional coordinate dimensioning practices
- Terminology and symbols
- Datums and datum reference frame, including datum targets
- The Feature Control Frame
- Modifiers
- Basic dimensions
- Tolerance characteristics, including:
- form tolerances
- orientation tolerances
- location tolerances
- profile tolerances
- run-out tolerances
- Virtual condition and worst-case boundary
Prerequisites: A minimum 10th grade reading and math skills, experience/familiarity with print reading is helpful.
