Following the results of Wednesday’s men’s and women’s basketball games, both programs have earned a postseason berth in the 2020 NJCAA Region III Tournament.
The men’s basketball team earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region III postseason tournament after defeating Fulton-Montgomery, 92-68, on Feb. 19 in the McDonough Sports Complex. The No. 4 seed marks the best regular season finish for the Vikings under the seven-year tenure of Coach Mike Long. The men’s program will now wait to find out who its opponent will be on Tuesday, Feb, 25 when players will host the winner of No. 5 Corning vs. No. 12 Broome. Game time has not been confirmed as this time.
The women’s basketball team earned the No. 8 seed in the 2020 NJCAA Region III postseason tournament and will host No. 9 SUNY Broome on Saturday, Feb. 22. The upcoming matchup with the Hornets provides the Vikings with an opportunity at redemption as they were defeated by Broome, 66-60, earlier on Jan. 26. The game time for Saturday’s first round match up with Broome will be confirmed on Thursday, but is expected to start around 1 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex.
