The Community and Professional Education Office is pleased to offer Coming to America: Furniture of the Pilgrim Period.
Because many of America’s first European settlers were not in a position to bring furniture with them when they left their home countries, most furniture didn’t arrive in New York until the 1650s. Up until then, only very crude objects were made.
